GS Gill Sports needed a Shopify store that was simple to manage, easy for customers to browse, and smooth to use.
We worked with the existing Shopify theme and focused on getting the product structure, variants, SKUs, pages, and overall store experience set up correctly.
The main requirement was to build the store using the existing Shopify theme without making unnecessary custom changes. The website needed to have a clear product structure, with products, variants, and SKUs set up correctly. Another important requirement was website speed. The store needed to feel smooth when users moved between pages and browsed products.
Before starting the development, we first went through the Shopify theme and its documentation to understand how the existing templates and sections worked.
Since the client wanted a theme-based website, we avoided making large changes to the theme. Instead, we worked with the features already available and added only the changes that were actually required.
We also looked at how the product catalog needed to be organized. Product variants and SKUs had to be entered carefully so that customers could select the right product options without confusion.
Another part of the work involved creating new pages and using the URLs provided by the client. This required us to understand how the theme's page templates were connected to Shopify pages.
The GS Gill Sports Shopify website was completed and launched successfully. One of the challenges we faced was that newly created page templates were not being assigned to the pages as expected. We investigated the theme structure, went through its documentation, and tested different approaches until the templates were working correctly. We also had to manually add the products because the product data could not be imported through the required CSV method. Each product was added individually along with its variants and SKU details. For the Liquid and schema work, we studied the existing theme structure and made the required changes without changing the overall theme unnecessarily. We also used AI as a support tool during research and troubleshooting when we needed help understanding a particular implementation. After testing the pages, products, and overall store functionality, the website was made live and is working properly.
